Seats for Lovers is a sculptural installation inspired by an encounter between two tipsy lovers observed on a subway train. The project recreates the subway’s double seat as a couch, accompanied by a sign that invites two people to sit together. By encouraging shared use, the work examines intimacy between individuals who may be known to each other yet remain anonymous to the observer. The piece emphasizes pairing as both a social structure and a convenience, whether between couples, friends, or temporary companions framing the subway seat as a site of collective experience.

Materials for Couch____100% cotton, faux leather

(short film directed/ edited by Ale Bakja)

LAMBOSE was inspired by Ancestry.com. It used to categorize people based on their occupation, place of origin, clan affilitation, patronage, adoption, and even physical characteristics. I use the name for my desk to highlight the way it organizes objects with its drawers and storage spaces on both the top and bottom. The purpose of both the desk and Ancestry.com is to bring order and clarity to the client's life and help them at home.

Materials for Desk____Wood, Screws, Adhesive Caster Wheels

Couch Pit was the first couch I created. The piece was commissioned through a collaboration with Sofia Gutman from The Cooper Union School of Architecture for her Benjamin Menschel Fellowship presentation.

Before this project, I had also been interested in the fellowship myself, but unfortunately I was not selected. Still, Sofia gave me the opportunity to contribute to her installation by creating a seating structure for the space.

The installation included hundreds of projected images, and I began thinking about how viewers could fully experience them. I felt that the best way to engage the work was to slow the viewer down physically. Instead of quickly passing through the space, I wanted people to sit low to the ground, remain comfortable, and spend time with the images.

This led me to create Couch Pit, a large communal seating structure capable of holding up to twelve people at once. The work became less about the couch itself and more about creating a condition for pause, observation, and shared experience.

Materials for Couch Pit ____ Nylon fabric, mesh fabric, medium-weight muslin, bean bag refill, thread

Thesis Exhibition, 2026
Space 1 Gallery, 41 Cooper Square
May 5 – May 9, 2026

The exhibition was divided into four sections, each reflecting one stage of competency.

The third section reflects discipline, which relates to conscious competence, the stage where understanding begins to take form through repetition, focus, and effort. At this point, you know how to perform something, but it still requires intention and concentration.

In this part of the gallery, I wanted the viewer to experience stillness through sitting down. As a child, it was always difficult for me to sit still, observe, and listen. Over time, I had to learn how to slow myself down and pay attention.

This led me to create four chairs inspired by photo stands. I remember once walking with my mentor while he was trying to explain something important to me. It was not until we finally sat down that he looked at me and asked, “Do you get the picture?”

That moment stayed with me. I began thinking about discipline not only as control, but as the ability to truly see, to use your senses with intention and awareness.

The chairs guide the viewer into a position of observation, surrounding them with the vehicle sculptures from All Roads Always Lead to Heaven. The work becomes less about movement itself and more about understanding where movement is taking you.

Materials for Always Chairs ____ Plywood, wood glue, screws, nylon fabric, primer, wood paint, piano hinges, epoxy resin glue
